This book is the perfect beginner's/intermediate guide to astrology. Not only is it extremely well-organized, thought out, and aesthetically pleasing (Libra rising here!), the author does an excellent job of emphasizing HOW you can use your chart to lead a fulfilled life. She offers simple, practical tips and strategies to do so. I find that this is what other astro books have lacked in the past. The book also describes houses, nodes, and basic chart patterns for those wishing to dig deeper than sun/moon/rising. You will not be disappointed!!
I like the way the author uses a psychological or evolutionary approach to astrology. People often make the mistake of seeing astrology as the ‘will of the heavens’ and we have no choices. The approach that Louise Edington takes shows how to look at opposing signs and other aspects to help balance our energies for the better. This is an excellent book for the beginner or more advanced astrologer to learn to look at the chart in a different way. I’ve been studying my chart for years and this book brought me a fresh new approach.
Whether you are completely new to astrology or an experienced astrologer, this book is for you. It goes in depth about sign traits (for all planets and asteroids), houses, and even provides you with interactive activities. The illustrations were beautiful and well-fitting. The only cons were that if you were *super* new to astrology, you may not understand some things. But overall this book was excellent for an amazing price.
This fresh take on astrology gives a solid foundation on which to make sense of the natal chart while inviting the reader to explore the meanings more deeply through their own meditative or shamanic practice with room for journaling (if paperback) to encourage a deeply personalized experience. Written in understandable terms, even a beginner can start using astrology as a tool for self discovery. Highly recommend!
I appreciate this book that gives modern truth seekers a guide for using the ancient practice of astrology. Written clearly and in grounded language, it is accessible for the curious and those who have a lot of knowledge on the topic alike.
I was pleased with this book, however it has very few color illustrations. I decided to give it to an older person since it is more research based and not as entertaining. It has a nice connection to psychology, so I liked that feature.
Modern Astrology is great for those wanting to learn more about their natal chart or if you want a good foundation on chart readings in general. Charts have so many layers and this book dives deep into the "first" layer, so you won't get lost down the Astrology rabbit hole.
I own several books on astrology and one of the things I love about Louise’s book, is how accessible the information is! For example, I was wanting credible information about moon in Scorpio, and the way she has her chapters laid out it was so easy to find that info. The book flows beautifully, and is a great read for anyone interested in astrology.
