The violin carries the melody above the piano accompaniment in most of these songs. They are NOT transcriptions for solo piano. The arrangements are excellent if you wish to play with another musician on a separate instrument capable of playing a descant.

Just a bit disappointed in this. Maybe I didn't read the description well enough but I thought I was getting a keyboard arrangement of the tunes. What was written was the solo violin (or voice) on a separate stave over a keyboard reduction of the orchestral accompaniment. To play everything, you will need to fit the violin part into the accompaniment and sometimes it is overlapping. Just be aware of that. Overall though the arrangements are good and true to the recording.

Though this book is not for solo piano, with a little skill it can be easily played as a solo without an issue. I've had this book a few years and everyone who has heard these pieces have lamented how beautiful they are; in fact, I've made audience members cry from the beauty of the music. The score itself is extremely easy and I've also arranged it a tiny bit for duets (not solo plus accompaniment). Now I've started learning the violin and really look forward to using this book again.Compared to other music books, the binding is substandard but it's usable with care.

What great tunes! This collection contains lovely music that can be used in many situations - church and entertainment for many venues, including the senior home where my friend and I played recently. One lady commented that this music was exactly what her soul needed.

I liked it because the sings were arranged nicely but not too difficult. I love the secret garden music.

Generous collection of pieces, but beware - there is no separate violin part, so you'll have to deal w/ multiple pages which for some of the pieces is very inconvenient. Why isn't there a separate violin part? Crazy!

Having looked through this music, I can't wait to start learning to play it. I plan to download some of the songs (from Amazon, of course!) to play along with eventually. Unfortunately, I've injured my left shoulder and twisting it to play the violin is still painful. Hopefully in a few weeks. I've played the violin for 4 years and this music is a combination of stuff I will know and stuff that will challenge....a perfect blend to keep me interested.

I can not say enough good things about this wonderful music book. It is by far my favorite book. The music can be played by the beginning violinist as well as the more experienced. The music is soul-lifting. I highly recommend The Secret Garden songbook. You can also get the CDs that match the music. It seems that the music closely follows the CDs. I would love to see Amazon carry all of The Secret Garden music books.
