I was recently given the opportunity to receive a review copy of a record collector's journal called, A Record of My Vinyl. My husband collects vinyl, so I thought I would have him use the book and let me know what he thought.He said this journal was great. He liked that it included a short history of vinyl. There is also a 'how to use' section for the journal itself, as well as information about caring for your collection and how to use your record player.He said there is room to catalog about 400 albums, as well as perforated 'wish list' pages. I think those will be especially helpful for gift buying. He did mention that those pages could be removed accidentally, and he thought that was the one thing that could be improved about this journal, and advised those who own a large collection to purchase a book for each genre they collect.Overal, we were very pleased with A Record of my Vinyl. It would make a great gift for any vinyl collector.

I received this as a present. I would not have purchased it. In order for a book like this to be of any value it would need to be split into sections by alphabet, or artist. Since it is not it really is useless. I keep track of my collection on a form I created using office WP . My list is done alphabetically by artist, or band, the title of the LP, Label & catalog number, Year it was issued and Genre, as well as my actual cost. The only way to use this book would to some how create my own alphabet listing, and leave blank spaces. I also find the space for liner notes to be completely useless, why would you make liner notes when they are included on the Vinyl cover or inner sleeve. I also have a very large collection of over 900 LP's this book isn't large enough for such a collection.

To sum it all down,It's a music junkies best friend!We all could use a little help to keep track of our tracks! lolRegardless of your musical status and preference,this journal is quite essential.It has so much included;From space for cataloguing your details and liner notes,to tips for cleaning and maintaining a serious collection.I like that it gets into detail with the condition of the record,allowing you tips and tricks for the care and aftermath of the album.I am only beginning to collect Vinyl.My parents have collected their whole life but this is the first for me, personally.I have quite a few records to my name,so being able to jot down some notes or write down memoriesabout a specific record is really and truly amazing.There is also a section of the journal that gives you information onevaluating the vinyl for resale from Goldmine's vetted rating system.Personally for me, my albums are for pure pleasure.I don't have no interest in sales but who knows what the future holds--great information is still great information.Another section of the book consists of perforated wish lists that you can tear outand take with you to the shop.I really like this feature because sometimes I get an idea of a certain album to getand I will forget it altogether.So, being able to jot it down and keep for memory sake is so great.I also want to mention the design and look of this book.I am in LOVE with the detail on the cover.The front cover has a record that actually feels like a real record with the grooves etched on it.Also, lovely quotes grace the insides of this book as well.From people like Jack White, talking about how important Vinyl is in his life.I really loved this little book journal, I couldn't pass it up.I'm so thrilled to put it alongside my collectionbecause if I know myself as well as I think I do,I truly believe this little gem will come in handy for my records.I am planning to purchase a few book shelves and boxes to store my records in.And thus, my future of obsessed collecting is foretold in vinyland I needed a book that will help me keep track of it all.

A Record of My Vinyl is a diary of sorts to keep track of your vinyl record collection. I have to say it isnâ€™t exactly what I was expecting but it is nice nonetheless. The cover is quite clever; it looks like a vinyl record wrapped around a book. It is shiny and textured.Inside is page after page of spaces to log your collection. It allows you to put the vinylâ€™s name, artist, label, country, catalog no., year, and grade. It also has a space for notes for each record. There are a couple of pages at the end that gives tips on caring for and collecting vinyl. Also, included is a wish list of sorts.This is a cute little novelty item for collectors. I got this for my daughter who collects but Iâ€™m not sure how much she will actually use it. She uses an app on her phone to keep track of what she has so it is with her always. The book I would think is good if you want a tracking system at home but I think it would be cumbersome to carry with you on shopping trips. My daughter likes it and thought it to be a nice concept and well done, but again she prefers her phone app for portability. I was kind of hoping that it could be used just as a normal journal but I donâ€™t think that will be possible.I received this book from bloggingforbooks.com in exchange for an honest review.
