Skyrim introduced me to the Xbox. Can you believe that? I am a 57-year-old man in a professional job that takes a LOT of time and results in a lot of stress to dissipate. For Christmas 2011, my wife and son gave me an Xbox. It was my first console since a Colecovision in the mid-80s. I received Skyrim with the console and used my Christmas 2011 vacation to set up the box and began playing...for 14 months!! Truly, I didn't unwrap the other games (Arkham Asylum, Gears of War, Call of Duty) for more than a year. Since then, I've played the DLC Bethseda added and decided to come back to Skyrim for one good, long run before the new hardware is delivered in November and Elder Scrolls Online is released. This guide is fantastic. It is the gold standard. Publishers and their editors should use it as a reference when developing all other guides. It is as complete as one could want, easy to traverse, AND--best of all--it has an INDEX. Two, in fact. A general index and a quest index. Skyrim is the biggest and best open-world game available at the moment. It deserves a guide of matching quality and this is it.

The best game guide I ever saw. It has an index that's actually useful. Tons of great, helpful info.However, this only covers the basic Skyrim game. I purchased the Elder Scrolls V, Skyrim Legendary Standard Edition, game guide by David Hodgson for my husband. I bought the game for my husband as a gift and since the game itself is huge I thought this game guide would be great. First of all this book is amazing. It has everything in there to help you succeed with playing and accomplishing parts of the game. Since the game has a lot of quest and journeys this book really helps out and makes things a little easier to understand. The book itself is of good quality and is made and put together nicely. The wording is also easy to understand and is written well. If you are trying to play Skyrim then you most definitely need to get this book.

I purchased this guide because I am an avid player/fan of Skyrim and had a real need/want to own this book/guide, but the prices for these out of print versions are either extraordinarily high or they are in very poor shape. Fortunately while browsing amazon I came across this Hard book edition for only 60 bucks and in what the seller described as very good, but in fact what I received was like new and I really couldn't be happier.This guide covers absolute everything you would want to know about Skyrim. I first played the game when it first released in 2011 on the Xbox 360 and thought I had explored every part of the game and beaten everything, but man I was wrong. I recently got back into Skyrim when I purchased Skyrim Special Edition for the Xbox One X and fell right back in love with the game which gave me the need to own this book just for collectors purposes, but upon receiving the book and reading through it I found so many things that I had never seen before or completed. It's amazing that as much time and enjoyment I poured into the original release that I missed so much content.The book itself is nicely bound with a beautiful cover and the pages inside include tons of beautiful art and screen shots from the game. This guide has to be the most absolute comprehensive guide I have ever seen or owned. There is absolutely nothing you cannot find in the 1000 plus pages that cover the main game and all DLC expansions.I cannot recommend this book enough for collectors or enthusiasts of the game. I had to edit my original review after playing for almost another month. This guide is essential for the Special Edition version of Skyrim. I recommend buying the original guide and ensure it comes with the map. This is a great supplement and the Special Edition areas that were added are included in this guide. It still sucks that this guide has no index, but I have learned to appreciate what it contains. Sorry for the original 1 rating which I now rate as 4.I just started playing Skyrim Feb 1, 2019. Since this said it was a game guide and an atlas, I really didn't know better. After playing the game for a little over a month, I was disappointed in this guide since I really couldn't find the information I needed because this guide does not have an index. In my researching online, I found that there was an indexed map. I ordered an original guide from 2011 along with the map from the bidding site. I was pleasantly surprised that the guide I had just received was about 4 times as thick, had an index, and contained all kinds of information I had to dig from many sites on the internet. Do not buy this cheap version that says Atlas, get the more expensive guide.

When it arrived in the mail, my girlfriend picked up the box and asked, "Why the hell did you order a cinderblock from Amazon?" I laughed in her Imperial face and said, "This is no ordinary cinderblock - it also doubles as a book! And not just an ordinary book - but a tome to uncover all the secrets of one of the greatest video games every made!"There isn't one detail of the game that this book doesn't cover. You would think that's awesome, except that what would normally be a 20 minute dungeon run now turns into 90 minutes because you want to get every item, find every word wall and kill every NPC.I tried not to depend on the book, but on some of the more complex missions, it gives you a couple options for how to finish the quest. This is great because some options are more fun than others.I don't know how many hours went into the making of this book, how many wives were left ignored while research was being done, how many trips to McDonalds were had because homemade meals were nonexistent. But what I do know is that this is the most well-researched and executed strategy guide of all time - and it also makes a great step ladder.
