I bought this for my granddaughter and girls through Middle School who visit my Little Free Library. My granddaughter loves GoldieBlox and she loves having her Mom read to her. This story presents an important concept in engineering: keep trying different approaches. The stories in the series are great to listen to when you're 6, and fun to read (again) when you're a stronger reader. The copies of all 3 books that I placed in the LFL have disappeared, so some girl really loves them!
My daughter and I really enjoyed reading this book together and it definitely encouraged her to learn more about coding. Author did a great job focusing on friendship, keeping it real by including middle schoolers challenges, and demystifing coding even for those with no experience about it. Loved reading this book!
Daughter loves :)
My daughter enjoyed reading this book and it was a good intro to coding
I loved the book
This is Book two Team Bff Race to the finish is about Sophia Torres, who is an athlete, an “A†Student and has a hobby of Coding things like websites. Sophia lives with her three sisters, Mother, father and Grandmother. She is also held very responsible for taking care of things at home along with her siblings. So Sophia and her coding friends Leila, Lucy, Maya, and Erin decide to enter this thing called the Hackathon. which is an event, where they will spend hours coding a robot to actually move by using a computer motherboard. But then something happens and Sophia might not make it to Hackathon which will disqualify the entire group. In order to find out how the girls help Sofia, I think you should buy the book. The Storybook Team Bff actually teaches young kids how to work together as a team. Which I love those young kids are learning team effort at a young age, it makes it less awkward for them later in life. I love how all of the girls rush to help Sophia throughout the book and vice versus. Also, My eight and ten years love these books too so I will be continuing with the series for them. The Series reminds me of a younger kid “Baby Sitter Club†but way cooler. The one thing I didn’t like in this book is the fact that Sophia parents demand so much of her, with everything at home. They never seem to respect the fact that she has her own life and responsibilities at school and to friends which is also important to be a well-rounded child. But other wise I honestly enjoyed this book and reading it with my kids.
This is a great little book for both higher elementary school as well as middle-grade students. My youngest daughter whom is only 7 had a great time reading this together with me. This is one book series to get your girls interested in something that they may not be. Coding! She has since getting this started her own website that she is working on with my help. She has also gotten very interested in games that deal with coding as well. This colorful story empowers our girls to do what they want not just what is expected of them and it teaches that coding is for everyone, not just the boys! You are smart and you can code to!
The girls on the cover are competing in a hackathon. They’re not hacking computers. (That was my guess.) They’re doing an all-day computer contest where they must program a robot to navigate a maze. Their equipment— a robot rover, a motherboard, and 4 modules that add personality to their robot. Wow again! But this story’s about more than robots and coding. It’s filled with tween stuff, like crushes on boys, and the conflict between friends and family. The plot centers on Sophie. The 6th grader’s torn between her family who need her to babysit, and her friends who need her for the hackathon. How can Sophie choose? No matter what, she’ll disappoint someone. Wowsers! Check out this book to see how Sophie succeeds, with a little help from her family and friends.
